openDesk calendar

anymize reads appointments from the Open-Xchange App Suite of your openDesk instance, across all your calendars.

3 Min

What you can do with it

  • “What is in my calendar this week?”
  • “Do I still have time free on Wednesday morning?”
  • “Which appointments do I have in October with the city planning office?”
  • “Summarize my next week by day.”

Without a time range the assistant takes the next 30 days. Recurring appointments it reports as stored, with a note that it is a series. It does not break them into single appointments.

Why does the calendar not come from Nextcloud?

Because it does not sit there. In openDesk calendar and contacts are the Open-Xchange App Suite, which runs on its own address, usually dav.your-domain. The Nextcloud in openDesk holds the files. A calendar fetch against Nextcloud would return a different, usually empty calendar.

That is why the connect dialog has a shared “Calendar and contacts” section: one Open-Xchange login opens both.

Which credentials do you need for Open-Xchange?

Calendar and contacts in openDesk sit in the Open-Xchange App Suite, not in Nextcloud. anymize needs username and password for the DAV host, usually dav.your-domain.

  1. 01Use the same login you use to sign in to the App Suite.
  2. 02In the browser check that sign-in with a password works. SSO alone is not enough here.
  3. 03One login opens calendar and contacts together in anymize.

Connect

  1. 01Open the openDesk dialog and enter your domain.
  2. 02Turn on the Calendar and contacts section.
  3. 03Enter the username and password for Open-Xchange.
  4. 04If the address differs from dav.your-domain, enter it under “Address differs?”.

If your instance only allows SSO at that point, the section stays off, and the assistant gets no tools at all for calendar and contacts. That is intended: better nothing than tools that fail on the first try.

Read, do not create

There is no tool that creates, moves or cancels an appointment. The connector only reads.

And the appointment list is anonymized before it goes to an AI model: participant names, their email addresses, meeting places and file references in the subject are replaced by placeholders.
