Connectors link anymize to your mailbox, calendar, files and line-of-business app without sending real names to an AI model.

What a connector does
A connector is a link between anymize and a program you already use: Outlook, Google Drive, Nextcloud, your accounting, your case management. Once it is connected you can simply ask in chat instead of searching: “What is in the calendar this week?” or “Find me the tenancy agreement for Musterstraße”.
The assistant then fetches the answer itself. You do not upload, copy or open a folder. What it may see is yours to set.
- Connecting takes between 30 seconds and a few minutes once, depending on the provider.
- Each colleague connects their own account. Nobody sees anyone else’s mailboxes that way.
- You can disconnect at any time; access is then gone immediately.
Does the AI model see my mail in the clear?
No. What a connector fetches goes through the same anonymization as an uploaded file: names, addresses, file numbers, account numbers and dates of birth are replaced with placeholders before anything goes to an AI model. The model works with the placeholders; the answer is reverse-translated for you.
In practice that means: “Ms Meyer asks for an extension in proceedings 4 O 231/25” becomes “[[PERSON_1]] asks for an extension in proceedings [[AZ_1]]” for the model. You still read the answer with the right names.
The mapping from placeholder to real name stays in your workspace. It is not sent to the model and is therefore not part of what the model provider processes.
Does the AI write into my systems?
Only if you want it to, and only on the connectors that can do it at all. Each connector page states at the top whether the connection only reads or also writes. A whole set of our connectors cannot write technically, because we do not have the matching commands.
| Access | What that means |
|---|---|
| read only | The assistant can search, read and summarize. It cannot create, change or delete anything. |
| read and write | In addition, on your explicit request it can create something, for example an email as a draft or a calendar entry. |
In a team this can be set centrally: an admin can decide in the Governance Center which connectors are allowed and whether writing is even on the table.
How you connect a connector
- 01Open Apps in the left sidebar and go to Connectors.
- 02Find the provider in the overview or type its name into the search field.
- 03Click Connect. Depending on the provider you sign in in a new window or enter a key you create at the provider.
- 04Then you set which areas the assistant may access, for example calendar only, not mail.
- 05Done. From now on you can ask about it in chat.
For the large office suites from Google and Microsoft you sign in only once and then unlock the individual services, instead of connecting each one separately.
Which connector do I need?
Start where your work actually lives. In most law firms and tax offices that is three things: the mailbox, the files and the line-of-business app. Everything else comes later.
| If you work with | Take |
|---|---|
| Outlook, Teams, SharePoint | Microsoft 365 |
| Gmail, Google Drive | Google Workspace |
| Your own Nextcloud or openDesk | Nextcloud or openDesk |
| Lexware Office, Sage 100, Qonto, Stripe | Accounting and payments |
| Actaport, TaxGraph, LexGraph, Legal Data Hunter | Law firm and tax |
Missing something? Through your own MCP server almost any system with an interface can be connected. Ask support, we will look at it.
