Translate with DeepL
Under Apps and Translate, anymize translates text, files and audio recordings with DeepL and, if you want, anonymizes personal data first.

What the Translate app does
The app translates into every language DeepL offers. What makes it special is the step before: with Anonymize before translating switched on, anymize replaces names, addresses and other personal data with placeholders before the text goes to DeepL. After the translation, the placeholders are automatically replaced with the originals again.
- Text: paste and translate.
- Files: PDF, DOCX, TXT, images and other formats up to 30 MB. anymize extracts the text and translates it.
- Audio: recordings up to 100 MB are transcribed first and then translated.
How to translate
- 01Open Apps on the left, then Translate.
- 02Paste text or upload a file or audio recording.
- 03Choose source and target language. anymize can also detect the source language itself.
- 04Keep Anonymize before translating on when the text contains personal data.
- 05For files you check the redactions before anything is sent and confirm with Confirm & translate.
- 06Copy the translation. You can show the intermediate version with placeholders.
Is the layout of my document preserved?
No. What gets translated is the text extracted from the file, not the file itself. You receive the translation as text, without the page structure, table layout or formatting of the original. For very long files the first 50,000 characters are translated; the app tells you when that happens.
If a file is a pure scan without recognizable text, the app reports that no text could be extracted.
Does DeepL see the names in the text?
Not when anonymization is on. DeepL then only receives the version with placeholders. The mapping to the real names stays with anymize and is only put back after the translation.
Every translation uses credits. If you do not have enough, the app tells you before anything is translated.
