Nextcloud contacts

What you can do with it

  • “What is Mr Schmidt's phone number?”

The search uses name, email, phone and organization. Without a search term you get a list, 25 entries by default, 50 at most.

Connect

  1. 01Connect Nextcloud, guided or with an app password from Personal settings, Security.
  2. 02In the permissions, turn on the Contacts area.
  3. 03Ask in chat for a person, a company or a number.

The address books in your Nextcloud are read. The assistant finds a shared address book only if your account can see it.

Does the AI model see my contacts' phone numbers?

No. An address book is personal from the first line to the last, so anonymization is especially visible here: names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses and company names are replaced by placeholders before the hit list goes to an AI model. You get them back with the real details.

The assistant cannot write here anyway: there is no tool that creates, changes or deletes a contact.

When this is worth it

  • The assistant knows how to reach a person when you have him draft an email.
  • On a question about a company he pulls in the matching contacts.
  • You no longer need to keep the address book open at the same time.
