Nextcloud files

The assistant has three tools for that: a search across all folders, listing a single folder and reading a single file. It searches first and then reads what it found.

Search is by file name and the details Nextcloud stores about it, not over the text in the document. Anyone who wants the content searched gives the assistant the folder, or puts the documents in a knowledge base made exactly for that.

• Text files are read directly; long files are shortened.
• PDF, Office documents and images only supply file metadata this way, not the content.
• The search returns up to 50 hits; a folder is listed one level deep.

1. 01First connect Nextcloud itself: guided via the sign-in page, or with an app password from Personal settings, Security (at the very bottom).
2. 02In the connection permissions, turn on the Files area.
3. 03Ask in chat for a file. The assistant gives you path, size and modification date of the hits.

An app password in Nextcloud always covers your whole account. So the Files switch decides which tools the assistant gets, not how far the access reaches.

No. There is no tool for creating, renaming, moving or deleting. The connector only sends read requests, and because that is tied to the build and not to a switch, nobody can accidentally flip it either.

The text the assistant reads from a file is anonymized before it goes to an AI model: client and staff names, addresses, file references, IBANs. File names can also be personal, “Kuendigung_Meyer.txt” for example, and are treated too.
