Groups

Groups are your team's departments in anymize: you create them, assign members and then give each group its own compliance rules.

What groups are for

Not everyone in a law firm works the same way. Lawyers need the strongest model and the case-management connector; the secretariat needs neither and should keep web search. Instead of maintaining twelve settings for twelve people, you create two groups and hang the rules on the groups.

This page does exactly one thing: it answers which groups exist and who is in them. What applies to a group you set on the Compliance page, and for skills and connectors directly in those areas.

What a group rule does not change: names, addresses and file numbers are replaced by placeholders in every group alike before a request reaches an AI model.

What you can do here

ActionHowEffect
Create groupType a name in the field at the top and click “Create group”.The group is immediately available as an exception in all rules.
Assign memberExpand the group, type name or email in search, click. From the next sign-in the group's rules apply to that person.
Remove memberClick the cross next to the person. For that person the “For everyone” rule applies again.
Delete groupClick the trash icon on the group row.All exceptions for this group disappear; the default applies again.
Create group while editing a ruleIn the expanded rule, choose “New group” in the picker.Saves the detour via this page; you assign members here afterwards.

Assignment is by search, not by invitation. This is only about people who already belong to your team. You invite new colleagues in team management; afterwards they appear in this search.

What is the difference between a group and a role?

The role says what someone may administer. There are three: Owner, Admin and Member. Owners and Admins reach the Governance Center admin surfaces; members do not.

The group says which rules apply to someone. It has nothing to do with the role: an Admin can sit in the “Secretariat” group and then have exactly that group's model selection. Anyone in no group at all simply gets the “For everyone” rule.

If someone is in several groups that speak to the same topic, the strictest rule wins. Only for models and connectors do grants add up, because there each group allows something instead of forbidding it.

What happens when a group rule applies

For the person concerned the UI changes, not their workflow. A blocked model is no longer in the picker, a connector that is not granted does not appear, a distributed skill shows up. If they open the Compliance page they see the applicable rules in read-only view with a note that their team sets them.

A person you just assigned who has never signed in appears in the group faded and dashed. The group's rules apply to them from their first sign-in; before that there is no anymize account for the rules to act on.

Team plan and role

Groups exist only with a team. A solo account sees the nav entry greyed out with “Team plan only”, and that is intentional: anyone who never saw the surface would assume it does not exist.

Inside a team the page is reserved for Owners and Admins. A regular member does not see the entry, and anyone who opens the URL directly lands on the Compliance page. Every change to groups and memberships then appears in the audit log.
