The story behind anymize

“The best software is built when practitioners solve their own problem.”

The beginning

The idea – and the question of who should build it

During an internship, Nikolai Raitschew saw first-hand how professionals bound by confidentiality – lawyers, tax advisors, doctors – fail to make use of AI: they know how much modern language models could take off their plate, but they are not allowed to feed them their sensitive data. The solution seemed obvious, yet it was nowhere to be found: a protective layer that anonymizes data before a model sees it – and cleanly restores it afterwards.

Many would have handed this idea to a development studio. Nikolai and his father Raitschin did something else: they built it themselves, together. The son as the technical mind, who developed large parts of the platform with his own hands while still attending school. The father as an experienced entrepreneur, who laid the operational foundation and has the young team's back.

Raitschin Raitschew is an entrepreneur by conviction – so from an early age his son saw how ideas are turned into products, how responsibility is carried and how customers are taken seriously. Through his father, Nikolai found his way to technology early: at eleven, he wrote his first lines of code. What began there was more than a hobby – it became the shared language between father and son.

Father and son

Why this partnership holds

An 18-year-old building a platform for professionals bound by confidentiality – that raises questions. The answer is the father: someone who has lived entrepreneurship for decades and who gave his son something money can't buy – the trust to take on a venture like this together. This constellation shapes anymize to this day: close to the product, down-to-earth, northern German – and carried by a conviction both share: data protection is not a brake, but the precondition for AI to truly work where it matters most.

Today more than 1,000 paying customers rely on anymize – from law firms and tax advisors to city administrations and mid-sized companies. With Tim and Nils Karow, further shareholders are on board. But the core of the story remains: a father and his son who turned an internship idea into a company.

“AI will change everything. But only for those who know how to use it properly.”
